Hey everybody! Pastor Jesse here and I’m happy to lay out the new VISION, PURPOSE and SPIRITUAL PRACTICES of the church for the coming year. This has been one of the most invigorating things I’ve gotten to do since we started the church 8 years ago. (If you missed any of the messages in this series, be sure to catch up on the app!)
Here’s our purpose: We exist to help people EXPERIENCE GOD IN THE EVERYDAY through discovering what it means to BE LOVED by Him, to BELONG to and build an authentic community compelling us to BECOME a positive force achieving our God-given potential.
We are truly excited to dig in and continue to equip this community to experience God in the everyday and some of the ways that we are going to be doing that are:
1) We will be learning how to make Spiritual Practices part of our everyday rhythm by focusing on a single practice for 2 months at a time each year. The 6 Spiritual Practices that we will be focusing on are:
RESPONDING - the practice of worship and gratitude
RELEASING - the practice of accountability and confession
RENEWING - the practice of Sabbath rest and recreation
INVESTING - the practice of service and generosity
CENTERING - the practice of silence and prayer
ENLIGHTENING - the practice of Bible study and spiritual knowledge. If you missed week 1 of our “Lead With Love” series, be sure to listen to the podcast to find out all of the ways that we will be practicing these as a community.
2) We hired a NEW YOUTH PASTOR, Summer Rodgers, to lead our rapidly growing youth program and continue to help them make their faith their own. She officially started at the beginning of September, so please give her a very warm welcome when you see her!
3) With a record number of new people at the church, we’ve hired Hannah Henderson as our NEW CONNECT PASTOR to help folks go from first timer to engaged community member.
4) This summer marked one of the most eventful and generous summers we’ve ever had. Here are just a few things YOU DID this Summer:
-provided dozens of backpacks stocked with school supplies for needy students in the Bellevue School District
-provided a brand new truck for our Haiti outreach friends at Life Ansanm
-served together at Chinook Middle School helping our local public school teachers prepare for another new school year
If you call Rain City Church home and have yet to begin living generously, I want to encourage you to consider giving regularly so that you too can experience the truth that Jesus teaches that it is “better to give than to receive”.
We are a 100% independent church. There isn’t a mother-ship funding it all behind the pipe-and-drape. ALL of our financial resources are provided by God through your growing individual financial generosity. We believe there is so much more we can do in serving our community and the world by sharing the transformational love of Jesus the way God brought us together to do it! We want to continue to build a community where people can Be Loved, Belong, and Become the people we were created to be for generations to come.
We’ve made it so easy to join the generosity movement here. Would you prayerfully consider partnering with us by growing in your personal financial generosity?
